Philanthropy is an important part of society. Philanthropists work hard to improve the wellbeing of others. They care about other people and are interested in supporting those who are in need. There is a big difference between charity and philanthropy. Individuals who give to charity help people who are in need. For example, if an area is suffering from famine, a charity may provide them with food. While charity helps people for a short amount of time, philanthropists strive to solve social issues. Rather than providing famine struck people with food, philanthropists strive to help those people learn how to grow food and how to fix the underlying issues that caused the famine in the first place.

If you want to become a philanthropist, all you need is a love for people and helping others. You can get involved with non-profit organizations that focus on solving social issues. You can work with environmental causes or organizations that help improve literacy. Some philanthropists choose to go on mission trips. They may spend time living in a developing country and helping communities build irrigation systems, homes, and buildings used for health centers or schools. This form of philanthropy serves parts of the world that suffer from poverty. Philanthropist can support a wide array of social issues. Philanthropy can help improve society and better the lives of people around the world.

Philanthropy is important in a corporate setting as well as personal setting. Corporations can do a lot of good in the world by supporting philanthropic endeavors. Philanthropy can benefit a company as well. It can boost employee morale by encouraging them to work together on a community project. Philanthropy can improve company image as well. George Landegger is interested in getting involved in a number of different philanthropic projects. Throughout the years he has helped others. George Landegger established a school for children in central Pakistan and has created programs in various parts of the world.

George Landegger - Supporting Higher  Education

George Landegger has long been a supporter of higher education. He funds numerous scholarships and is even the chairman of the Higher Education Commission in the state of Alabama. He wants to make everyone aware of the benefits of higher education and help make it possible for everyone.

George Landegger

People who attend college are much more likely to find better-paying jobs and jobs that they enjoy. They may also experience greater cultural awareness. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the median weekly earnings in 2014 for high school graduates aged 25 and older were $668, while the median for individuals aged 25 and older with bachelor's degrees was $1,101. College can also affect unemployment rates. The BLS reported that those with high school diplomas experienced a 6% unemployment rate in 2014. The unemployment rate for those who held bachelor's degrees was only 3.5%.

Statistics also show that people who have attended college are much less likely to live in poverty. They are more likely to spend money in a way that benefits the economy and also volunteer to help with community issues and improve the areas where they live. When a person attends college, he or she may also become more confident in his or her abilities and skills and will have a broader range of career options. This, in turn, gives college graduate more freedom and control over their lives. George Landegger hopes to make it possible for more people to receive a higher education and complete college.

George Landegger - Feeding The Less Fortunate

George Landegger hates that so many people in the world are going hungry and works hard to help feed as many as possible. He lives in Monroeville, Alabama but his philanthropy is known all over the world. He provides over a million meals a year to kitchens and church programs in the Florida panhandle. At one time he was feeding over 650 families a week Monroeville and thanks to his efforts and improving economic conditions, that number is now down to 250 families. He also feeds around 250 families each month in Ridgefield, Connecticut.

George Landegger

Mr. Landegger knows that you can’t make a situation better for a family by only feeding them and that is why he has helped with so many other projects within the community. He funds shelters and scholarships and has even brought many news jobs to his home state. He mentors students and has opened rape shelters and shelters for unwed mothers.

George Landegger was close friends with the author Harper Lee and shares her love for Monroeville, Alabama. He is fortunate enough to be in a position where he is able to donate money and time to help improve his community and feed those who are less fortunate. While many of his efforts are focused in Monroeville, he also helps people in other countries. He has funded clinics in El Salvador, helped refugees in Pakistan and is the principal donor for a hospital that is currently being built in Haiti. He has, even more, projects planned for the future.

George Landegger - Helping Impoverished Women

There are millions of impoverished women in the world and George Landegger believes that they all deserve a little help. He works hard to help unwed mothers and those without homes or jobs, make ends meet and live a safe and happy life. He founded a home for unwed mothers in 1987 and is still the primary supporter of the home. It offers a safe environment for women to live and raise their children until they get back on their feet. The women are taught a trade and given birthing and parenting classes to help prepare them to be the best mother they can be.

George Landegger

Mr. Landegger is also concerned with the amount of women who have been raped and have no place to go to feel safe. He is currently working to construct a home for rape victims. The new home will be located close to the home for unwed mothers and will offer many of the same services. He hopes that it will help rape victims feel safe and be able to live normal lives.

George Landegger is also passionate about helping women in other countries. He donates to many causes to support women all over the world and he has even inspired his daughter to work with refugees in Pakistan. Mr. Landegger believes that all women should have the same opportunities to learn and work and he is always looking for new ways to be able to help them. He hopes that by making it a point to help these women, he will make a difference in their lives and inspire them to help others as well.

George Landegger is a wealthy industrialist who has made giving back to society a big part of his life. He has provided scholarship assistance to hundreds of students, supported programs that help disabled children, and founded a home for unwed mothers in India.

He is also a patron of the arts whose support enabled the noted photographer Carol M. Highsmith to launch an ambitious project that involves photographing 21st Century America for the Library a Congress, one state at a time. Highsmith began the project in earnest in 2010. “I was able to interest ... George Landegger to fund me photographing Alabama because he loves that state,” the photographer explained. “So there is now a George F. Landegger Collection of Alabama images in the Library of Congress. He went on to do a 265-page coffee table book that set the stage for what I’m up to now...[he] gave me the gift of [photographing] Washington, D.C. where I actually reside.”

George Landegger has also funded the annual Harper Lee Award for distinguished Alabama writers. Harper Lee was the Pulitzer Prize-winning author of To Kill a Mockingbird, and George Landegger counted the late author among his friends. “To me, Nelle always had Scout-like qualities,” he said at the time of her death, referring to the author by the name intimates knew her by, and evoking the main character in Mockingbird. Lee, he said, “had a childlike twinkle in her eye, and was not subject to conventional mores.”

George Landegger - Helping Those in Need

George Landegger is a giving individual who is concerned with the well being of lesser fortunate populations. In the United States, there are tens of thousands of homeless people who struggle every day. The unfortunate reality is that there are families that are part of the statistic. Though there are various charity groups that help them out, very seldom can offer a direct way off the street. There are two classes that the homeless are categorized. One is the chronically homeless, who typically have psychological conditions and substance abuse history. Then there are the situational homeless who, unfortunately, suffer from conditions that have them living on the street. Usually the situational homeless are in a position with a lack of income.

George Landegger

Through commitment and hard work, generous individuals have put together massive efforts in assisting not just the homeless but the many people who are with physical and mental illness. In order to help these groups, it takes an understanding of what social services they may qualify for and how the organization can offer further assistance. The homeless people that receive help are more than willing to participate in workshops that will educate them or help them get work. There are also the elderly and people who have medical conditions. There are many giving people who take the extra time to utilize the options available for these groups. To get extra help involves utilizing a variety of resources that have been collaborated with in the past. George Landegger keeps strong relations with organizations that are a benefit to those in need.

George Landegger -  Making a Difference Overseas

Justine has spent ten years in refugee management and protection, and more recently in health care service to some of the most difficult parts of the world, including: Darfur, Northern Uganda, Haiti, Northern Cameroon, Sierra Leone, Ethiopia, Rwanda and Pakistan. George Landegger - What it Means to Be a Philanthropist

George Landegger is a businessman and CEO who not only grows communities and their economies through his work in the forest products industry, but he is also a philanthropist who gives to the lesser fortunate in hopes of helping lead them to a better life. But is that all it takes to be a philanthropist? What does this word actually mean? In this blog, we will break down the idea of philanthropy and what its origins could reveal about the practice as a whole.

George Landegger

“Philanthropy” is a word of Greek origin that translates as “a love for humanity”. Furthermore, it connotes the caring and nourishing of both benefactors and beneficiaries in a manner that others help others in a state of selfless compassion. Philanthropists not only donate time or money to causes they believe in, but they also care about maintaining and raising levels of humanity in their own communities by harboring an environment where people look out for each other and make sure that they are given the care and nourish that they deserve.

George Landegger is a philanthropist not only because he gives to the lesser fortunate, but because he genuinely cares about bettering the lives of other people and showing them the levels of care and nurture that he, too, has experienced throughout his fulfilling life.

The Benefit of Scholarships

There are a number of tremendous advantages when it comes to getting a scholarship for advanced education. One advantage of course is the assistance with the cost of a higher education. Every year students scramble to try and gain the assistance that they seek through a high level of academic achievements in specialized programs that are dictated by each scholarship program. In this world of ever increasing college tuitions, a scholarship can make a true difference in the education of a deserving student. It is challenging to plan for funding college education without the increases that seem to occur with every tuition payment. The simple fact is that many parents today are in a position where they may be struggling to make up these differences and thus the students continue to increase loan balances as they try and complete their education. Student that is a significant issue that has long affected young adults in this country. Thus, it is even more vital for students to apply for scholarships and thankfully there are many such scholarships that are available students of all types.

George Landegger is a philanthropist and a successful figure in the world of the forest products industry. He has long supported students through a variety of scholarship efforts and has served as a mentor for them for many years. One of his most significant achievements has been the establishment of assistance for hundreds of students over the years and he is currently donating at the rate of six scholarships each and every year. He continues to contribute towards individuals that are seeking financial assistance based on their merits and ability to contribute as individuals themselves towards society.

Great City of Washington DC.

Washington DC is a city that is filled with history and it is an attraction for many from around the world. This great destination is filled with museums, memorials, monuments and many other activities for people to do. It offers the peak for many into the Democratic origins of the United States and pays reference to the great leaders of this country. As one of the greatest cities in the United States, it has been built on a foundation of not only history, but amazing architecture as well. You can see examples of grandiose architecture throughout the city including the work that pays tribute to the great Greek architects and Roman heritage that is visible in a variety of monuments and buildings.

The city was founded along the Potomac River and it was established by congressional act in 1790. The development of Washington, DC has been one that has followed and has driven the history of this country. It was the city that was under siege and was literally burned to the ground during the war of 1812. It was a critical entity in the times of the American Civil War and it has been redeveloped and grown since those times as industrialization and the construction of roads and buildings have taken hold. Being a metropolitan magnet, the city also includes a number of higher education institutions including that of Georgetown University. George Landegger is a supporter of this fine university and he is a graduate that as maintain an active relationship with the school for many years. He enjoys all there is to enjoy about Washington DC and the surrounding areas.

Overseas Plants

One of the fascinating things about globalization in today’s modern business world is the fact that manufacturing plants have spread throughout the world do to reduce costs in communication, trade agreements, business dealings, and shipping costs that have narrowed the field for variety of reasons. For many years corporations have been expanding their industrial base by taking a look at the establishment of international points of presence. These critical plants and factories provide economic activity and creates many jobs for the people that live in those terms.

One of the aspects of overseas plants that is critical to success is the fulfillment of promises that are made in good faith in terms of business. It is important for an organization that is establishing an overseas operation to consider such things as the environment, local regulations, community outreach and many other elements. Another aspect that is critical is the respect of local labor laws. While it is true that on one level that labor can be cheaper in other countries, it is also true that these countries may not have as well developed labor protection laws. It is therefore important to apply the highest standards of safety, worker interaction and the utmost communications with employees when establishing business in another country. In a long career as a prominent businessman in the field of forest agricultural products, George Landegger has worked quite a bit in international pursuits including the operations of international plants. He currently is focused on developing industrial investment from other countries in the United States, especially in the state of Alabama.

The Role of the Chairman Emeritus

In the nomenclature of organizations lies a number of terms that people are passing only familiar with, yet they may not know what each role truly does. Clearly, in the modern business world, there is a division of roles and responsibilities that come with a variety of titles which are critical to the operation of an organization or business. At the head of these organizations is a role known to many as the chairman. One interesting variation on that term is that of the Chairman Emeritus. This role is an important and revered role as it indicates that the person who holds this title was once the chairman of the business in question. What has changed for that individual is the responsibility that they hold once they transition.

This is a role that has a tremendous amount of honor that comes along with it, not only for the fact that they were once the top dog in a business, but it also includes the fact that the individual represents the organization with distinction and pride. The authority that an individual with this role holds is still quite similar in rank to the chairman position, but the work that is being done in this role has changed.

A person who holds this distinctive role is one that is on good terms with the business itself and they have been retained because of their value to the organization, thus they remain a part of the family. George Landegger is the Chairman Emeritus of Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service and he is the founder of the Karl F. Landegger Program in International Business Diplomacy at the school. He enjoys his position and ability to continually contribute to this institution.
